Pierre Chapo L01 ‘Godot’ daybed.
France c. 1960.
Frame and legs constructed with solid French elm. Mattress and bolster newly upholstered in a soft white linen. Retains original plywood inset with holes for mattress ventilation. Constructed with beautiful box joints and two lap-jointed cross supports.
Chapo designed this daybed in 1959 for the writer Samuel Beckett, naming the piece ‘Godot’ in reference to the play ‘Waiting for Godot’.
Measurements: 77.25" Length, 30" Width,1 1.75" Height (to top of base), 15" Height (to top of seat cushion)
Condition: Excellent condition. Very little wear, if any. Patina of elm is deep and gorgeous, unlike the new Chapo pieces which are currently in production. Please refer to images and feel free to be in touch with any questions or for additional images.
