Pierre Chapo L01 ‘Godot’ daybed with removable headboard
France c. 1960.
Frame and legs constructed with solid French elm. Retains original plywood inset with holes for mattress ventilation. Constructed with beautiful box joints and two lap-jointed cross supports. Head board is attached to two steel sleeves that insert easily into the frame. Mattress and bolster are feather and down over foam, newly upholstered in black cotton canvas.
Chapo designed this daybed in 1959 for the writer Samuel Beckett, naming the piece ‘Godot’ in reference to the play ‘Waiting for Godot’.
