Serge Mouille Cocotte Table Lamp

Serge Mouille Cocotte Table Lamp
Original Serge Mouille Cocotte table lamp.
Designed in 1957. Completely original, down to the bullet shaped switch, wiring and electrics.
The Cocotte lamp was originally designed for the bedrooms in a young workers’ center in Fonteney. A ring fitted beneath the legs made it possible to hang the Cocotte on the wall, turning it into a bedside wall lamp. The wire outlet was emphasized by the copper edging of the nozzle fitted into the tip of the tube. This nozzle protected the wire from the sharp edge of a cut tube end.
Lacquered aluminum and steel, brass.
Measurements: 14” height, 12” depth, 7.5” width

Frederic Mares Deulovol (1893-1991) patinated bronze gazelle doe.
Base signed in the casting: F. Mares; with impressed foundry mark: Fundicion R. Vila / Valls (Tarragona).
Bronze base has been removed for photography and because we feel the doe stands more beautifully in a room without it, though it could be simply placed back on matching bronze base if desired.
This doe comes form a California estate where it was kept outdoors, partially covered. The resulting patina and verdigris is beautiful and reminiscent of a Pat Steir painting. The bronze is beautifully sculpted with incredible, life-like details, from the slight movement of the tail to the deep gaze of the eyes.
