Rare Early Isamu Noguchi Akari Light Sculpture, Model 120A

$50,000.00

Very rare and early Isamu Noguchi Akari light sculpture, model 120A.

Hand-made form by Ozeki & Co. Ltd., Gifu, Japan.

Noguchi’s Akari series was started in 1951, Akari model 120A was started in 1964. This is an early model with iconic red sun and moon ideogram.

Washi paper shade, bamboo ribbing supported by metal frame.

A moon inside your home, the 120A is the largest hanging globe Noguchi designed. It is extremely hard to find a vintage one, especially one in good condition. This example has a few very small tears, noticeable only up close, which are to be expected for its age. It is overall in very good, stable condition.

Pictured alongside a selection of Charlotte Perriand Berger stools. Please contact us for additional information and images.
