Noguchi’s Akari series was started in 1951. Model 20A was designed c. 1954. This is an early model, marked with iconic red sun and moon ideogram. This specific model/size (19.5” diameter) was only produced for a short period. Its size is between what is now the 45A and 55A.
Hand-made form by Ozeki & Co. Ltd., Gifu, Japan.
Washi paper, bamboo, enameled cast iron. Cast manufacturer's mark to underside of each base 'Made in Japan'. All original hardware.
Condition: Excellent overall condition with beautiful patina to shade and cast iron base. All original hardware. Please refer to images and feel free to be in touch with any questions.
