Enfield Shaker chair, circa 1840-1860.
A very beautiful and elegant example of an iconic chair.
The chair makers at Enfield, N.H. had a delicate and refined touch to their creations. This is a piece made by the shakers for the Shakers and not the numbered Shaker chairs that were made with the intent of selling to the outside world. Wonderful original, untouched surface - dark brown stained maple with rush seat.
